History

SEASON 1

The North Kawartha Knights joined the Jr. C Central league of the OHA for the 2014-2015 year under the leadership of owner Gord Mackenzie-Crowe and GM Gary Geraldi. Head coach Denver Tucker and his staff guided the team to six wins in their inaugural season and was an over-all successful season.  The Team and new Owners extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Denver Tucker and his Staff for all of their hard-work in laying the foundation for many successful years ahead.  The team was sold to current owners Josh Perks, John Trotter Sr., John Trotter Jr., Ed Whitmore and Duane Wiltshire at the conclusion of the Knights’ first season. The Knights are proud of their past and looking forward to the future.

SEASON 2

In their second season, the Knights scored more goals and reduced their goals against as compared to season one. As a result they doubled their regular season points and managed to secure a spot in the playoffs where Port Perry defeated the Knights. The Mojacks then went on to win the Cougar Cup.

SEASON 3

With the highest ever number of vets returning and a strong group of rookies, the Knights entered into the 2016-17 season with a new found optimism as they played in the inaugural season of the newly formed PJHL (Orr Division).  The Knights finished 18-24-0 to finish fourth in the season. In the playoffs, the Knights fell to the Uxbridge Bruins in game 7 of the quarter final round. The Knights were also pleased to announce that they were recognized by the OHA as Club 90 Award Recipients (OHA Tomorrow’s Game Program).

 

 

Fun Fact #1: The honour of scoring the first goal in Knights franchise history belongs to Apsley Minor Hockey grad, and curent Knight, #68, Braden MacDonald!

Fun Fact #2: The first Knight to be named OHA Central Ontario Junior League Pepsi Player of the Month was Spencer Green.  Spencer was named POM for Sept/Oct 2015!

Fun Fact #3 – Jesse Douglas scored the first ever NK Knights’ playoff goal in the second period of game 1 on February 3, 2016 in a 6-3 loss to Port Perry.

Fun Fact #4 – Christian Lachapelle, James Hack and Nick Mann were all given PJHL Orr Division Player of the Month honours during the 2016-17 season.
